No Heat Waves with Savvy Curls Wraps!

Ever since I discovered headband curls, I've been hooked. My hair has recently been lightened which leaves it feeling extra dry and brittle. Because of this, I try to use as many no heat methods as possible to help my hair stay as healthy as possible as I grow it out. I've always wrapped my hair around a regular fabric headband while it's barely damp, because it won't curl when my hair is completely dry. And having only one band made it hard to wrap with all of the layers I recently added to my hair. Well, guess what? Savvy Curls solves both of these problems.

No Heat Waves with Savvy Curls || ADOS || no heat curl method, beauty, style, healthy, hair

I started with dry hair, added a styling product, wrapped my hair around both bands and ended up with beautiful heat free waves after only a couple hours of dry time! Now I'm going to walk you through a step by step tutorial of how I got these waves with my Savvy Curls Convertible Wrap

Pictorial || No Heat Waves with Savvy Curls || How to, tutorial, healthy hair

1. I started with freshly washed and dried hair. Then I added one of my favorite all natural Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion from the mid-shaft to ends of my hair.

2. Once I felt I had covered all of my hair with styling product, I seperated a top section of my crown to reserve it to wrap around the second band. Then I applied my Savvy Curls Wrap around my head.

3. I started wrapping my hair around the wrap from front to back on one side, then switched to the other side. Once I had wrapped all of the ends around the band several times, I secured it with bobby pins.

4. I let down the hair I originally pulled up, and wrapped it one side at a time. Then secured the ends with bobby pins.

5. Once I had finished, I took a break to eat some lunch and do some things around the house. Came back a couple hours later and started to take out the wrap. It's easiest if you unsnap the top band first, and then gently pull the other band off.

6. I ran my fingers through the curls to separate them slightly, Sprayed it with a little hairspray, and that was it! I had beautiful, soft, healthy waves in my hair all day long! Even my husband couldn't help but mention how beautiful it looked!

I love that this headband is specifically designed for the purpose of curling your hair. It uses the thermal heat naturally radiated from your scalp to set effortless and healthy curls in your hair! No more waiting ALL DAY for my headband curls to dry, and hello to beautiful bouncy waves in no time at all! You want one too? I don't blame you. It's your lucky day!  Savvy Curls is offering a promo code just for you, my lovely readers! Use code savvyc1 to receive $2 off of your order!

Bookroo || Children's Book Subscription Review
Bookroo || Monthly Children's Book Subscription || Review || ADOS

One of my favorite things to do with Turner is read. As much as I love reading the same book a thousand times...I don't. So getting new books on a regular basis is essential. Now that he's talking and understanding more and more words, the smaller board books just haven't been cutting it. I've been meaning to get him some more age appropriate books, but they can get expensive! I have wanted to go check some out at the library instead, but dread the thought of getting them returned on time.

Bookroo is the perfect service for someone like me. It's a monthly book subscription service that delivers two or three age appropriate children's books right to you. That's right, new books in your mailbox. Talk about happy mail! You can pay month to month, or save big time by paying a year in advance! It adds quality books to your collection for an amazing price! I looked up the prices of these hardback books individually and I'm basically getting TWO for the price of ONE! You can't beat that. (They're also offering my readers a discount. Details at the bottom of this post!)

Did I mention it comes wrapped like a present with a handwritten note inside the box?! It's like Christmas! Turner couldn't have been more excited about opening them and seeing new books. He wanted to read them right that second! So we did.

I'm a huge advocate of reading to children. I worked as a reading tutor in an elementary school before having children, and came to realize how much reading on a daily basis helps children develop in all other areas of their lives. I've been reading to Turner since he was tiny, and I cannot believe how much he learns because of it. He's 2 years old, has several books memorized word for word and will repeat them with me. I can tell that they help him expand his vocabulary, better understand emotions and social cues. New books not only help him learn new things, but it creates so many special moments for him and I to have together. I'll be devastated when he will no longer want me to read to him. So until then, I'll be continuing to buy new books.

Bookroo is offering my readers $5 off their first Bookroo box by clicking this unique link! They are also currently doing a giveaway throughout March to celebrate National Reading Month. All you have to do is register for their free reading app on their website and start to track your child's reading. Every day that you log 30 minutes or more of reading with your child, it gives you an entry towards some amazing prizes! Click here to find out more.

What are some of your favorite children's books? Leave them in the comments below!

Maskcara Cosmetics: IIID Foundation Review
Maskcara Cosmetics IIID Foundation Review || ADOS

Okay, so I've been ranting and raving about this stuff since the day I opened it. However, I wanted to wait a good amount of time before giving this product a proper and honest review. When I tried out this makeup for the first time I didn't really have a concept of how much product to use. I was used to using so much liquid foundation and layering it to get the contour I wanted. I started to realize I could get amazing coverage using way less makeup.

I start with a primer/tinted moisturizer since it's winter and I have super dry skin. I fill in my brows and then I use makeup brushes to apply minimal amounts of the IIID Foundation to my face, starting with the contouring (a mixture of Stone and Shadow) and ending with highlighting (Sunlit). I use the liquid blush (Gem) on the apple of my cheeks and my lips. I finish with Illuminator (Pearl) on the tops of my cheekbones, brow bones, inner corners of my eyes, cupids bow, and chin. After I am basically GLOWING from this product, I apply a translucent setting powder with a fluffy kabuki brush to my whole face, followed by a dusting of bronzer along my contour work and lids. I line my eyes with the same powder used to fill my brows, curl my lashes, and apply mascara.

BAM! I'm done!

This routine takes me only 10 minutes! I cannot believe how much time this product has shaved off of my regular routine. Not only that, I don't find myself reapplying it later in the day. It looks natural and stays ALL DAY LONG. It hides all of my blemishes, dark spots caused by hormones, and dark circles from the lack of sleep in my third trimester. My skin has never looked better. I'm hooked for life!

My HAC Pack has taken the place of 5 other products and is the perfect on the go compact! Here are all the products I use every day! Find out where to find them by clicking the linked images below.

I am so glad that Cara created this mom friendly product. I can't wait to try some of the new colors they've created when I need to refill my pack! What are your favorite makeup products? Do you have a product you can't live without? I wanna know about it! Comment below with all of your faves!

My First Spray Tan || Mystic HD + Planet Beach Review

One day while browsing Facebook, I saw a promotion from Anytime Deals for a free spa treatment. (Click on the link, It's still available so you can grab one too!) I curiously followed the link and claimed a free spa treatment code for the newly opened Planet Beach in Clinton

When I saw the list of available spa treatments I instantly wanted to know every detail about the Mystic HD spray tan machine. I have been researching sunless tanning like crazy and thought this would be a good excuse to try it. I called my sister and we set a day to go! We went into planet beach, one week ago today, and were greeted by some of the nicest people ever. They showed is around the facility and I was surprised by how many services they offer in that space!

When we discussed the pigments of the spray tan and all the details of running the machine I decided to do it. All I had to pay was $10 for the medium tan cartridge and the rest of the service was completely free! That's a $30-40 value! They even installed the cartridge for me. I highly recommend Planet Beach for all of your spa needs. Find out more about there services here!

As far as the mystic HD machine itself, here is my review. I didn't install the tanning cartridge myself, but the machine directs you how to do it. It takes a good 10 minutes for the machine to heat up to a temperature that allows for prime absorption. The spa provided lotion to apply to the areas of the body that tend to be more dry so that you get your tan to look as even and natural as possible. I applied it to my nose, elbows, knees, hands, cuticles, ankles and feet.

After the machine is fully heated, it instructs you to step in and wave your hand in front of a green motion camera. It then instructed me to place my feet on certain numbers labeled clearly on the floor. I stood in a forward, right facing diagonal with my arms out like a cowboy and fingers completely spread like I was doing a quick draw to the death. The machine loudly said in a female voice, "Spray commencing in 3,2,1" and I closed my eyes as it sprayed. It then took a brief amount of time to dry and for me to step into the next position. This happened three more times and took a total of 2 minutes. I stood for a while in the machine during the last drying cycle to get my skin as dry as possible. As I exited the machine it requested I close the door so it could initiate the cleaning cycle. I listened as a water hose blasted down the entire machine. I couldn't believe how efficient it was!

Even though I was completely dry, I was nervous to put my clothes back on because I felt somewhat sticky. I put them on carefully and went to the bathroom to rinse my hands. One of the consultants instructed me to do so if I was worried about it settling in my knuckles and on the bottoms of my feet. I'm so glad I wash my hands and I wish I had remembered to wash my feet. When I woke up the next morning my soles were as dark as molasses. Luckily they washed off quite a bit at the splash pad later that day. My nose took it a little splotchy due to dryness, like I had feared, but it almost made it look like an actual sunburn! HAHA! My husband and I laughed about that.

I was very surprised how realistic my tan actually looked the next day, though. It was NOT orange and it had the perfect glow. I was also surprised how dark it went at the medium level. I'm so glad I didn't do the dark cartridge for my first time. I most likely wouldn't have as many positive things to say about it. (HUGE shout out to my little sis for snapping a before shot of me so I could really see the difference it made.)

My biggest complaint is that it's only been a week and I feel like it has all washed away. It's not in a good way either. I have certain splotches that are tan and some areas where it has rubbed off. I have lines wear my bra sits because it rubbed off the tan in that area. I don't think I could invest in it again if it lasts only one week. It says it only last 4-5 days, but still! What the heck, guys? I don't have that kind of money, people!

Besides those things, I am so pleased with my spray tan. My husband REALLY likes it too. There's something sexy about an evenly bronzed body. However, I think from now on I'll try to achieve it with a self applied lotion/mousse. Like the ones they sell here, or this one highly recommended by the lovely sunless tan expert, Maskcara.  Even if it's not for a spray tan, I'll probably be going back to planet beach for a facial, massage or red light therapy. My sister had a red light facial and her face looks bright, tight and amazing because of it! This location is new, but they have tons of locations throughout Utah and the U.S. Find one near you by entering your city and state hereIt's nice to treat yourself to something relaxing every once and a while. Treat yo self to a day at the spa. You'll be glad you did.

Silky & Soft || Hot Tools Curling Iron Review

I've been on a winning streak guys. I totally entered to win this 1" Hot Tools curling iron on Hair Max Salon's Instagram account and got it! They have so many awesome giveaways almost every week! In fact, they're announcing their winner for a FREE MANICURE today! You might be able to enter still if you hurry. Follow them on Instagram, repost the photo of the well manicured hands on their feed and hashtag #hairmaxgiveawaymonday, then tag 5 friends to do the same! Even if you don't enter this one in time, the next one is bound to be just as good!

I knew this curling iron was going to be amazing, but I didn't understand how amazing until i tried it for the first time yesterday. I didn't use any product and my curls lasted all day long! I couldn't believe how shiny and silky my hair was after using heat on it. Did I mention it has a temperature dial on the side the goes as high as 430 degrees? You're not limited to low or high anymore, you can customize it to your hair type. The on and off switch is on the opposite side of the temperature dial instead of further down the barrel so you're way less likely to turn it off on accident. I had that problem with my last curling iron and it was so frustrating! To make it even better, the barrel is 24k gold. Not only does it look gorgeous, it heats more evenly and leaves your hair looking super glossy. The cord can do a complete 360 so it doesn't become a tangled mess. I TOTALLY understand why this is the beauty industry standard and highly doubt I'll buy anything besides Hot Tools in the future.

Two super happy thumbs up from this girl. I mean just look at those curls! Consistent, silky, and soft enough to run your fingers through. I did just that. Over and over and over again.

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
