Top 10 Makeup Favorites

Surprisingly, I’ve NEVER done a makeup favorites roundup! I’ve had quite a few of you asking for all my go to makeup products, and here it is! For me makeup needs to be effortless and look likewise. Over the past year I’ve been REALLY HAPPY with my makeup routine! It’s simple, convenient, and makes me feel like my best self! Here are the top 10 products I now can’t live without!

1. Maskcara Beauty IIID Foundation

I’ve been using this makeup for 3 years now, and I’m more obsessed with it than ever! It’s one of the reasons I signed up to be an artist, but let me tell you WHY I love it so much. From the first time I saw Cara, the creator, doing before and afters of this product I knew it was something I had to try. It just brought out this natural beauty and light in everyone she put it on!!

I convinced my husband to buy it for me the Christmas of 2015. I had been sick for months with the pregnancy of our second son to the point where I had lost myself. To finally feel okay enough to put makeup on and take that time for myself sparked a renewed sense of energy and confidence in me. It was exactly what I needed! To feel beautiful in my own skin. It actually inspired me to start blogging again, and I did this review on her product. The product and my skills have come a LONG way since then, but you can still see the confidence it gave me!!!

Now I get to share that same feeling with other women. I get to watch them light up as they see themselves shining through in that after photo. They realize their own beauty! Because it just enhances your natural features, it’s like you know you’re even more beautiful when you take it off. It’s fast, easy and convenient for everyday use - for a stay at home mom like me and so many other women who live full and bold lives! I’ve never loved my makeup routine more than I do right now!! (View my old routine vs new routine here) If you’re looking to change your foundation, you can learn your color match here and get your own customized palette!

2. e.l.f. Brow Pencil

This pencil is the perfect color (Neutral Brown) and makes brows a cinch! I don’t have to dip into a product over and over again, I just twist up and flick on those brows until I’ve achieved the look I want! For $2 per pencil, it really can’t be beat. I am in the market for a brow pen, but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t dry out quickly.

3. Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

This is the ONLY mascara that has kept my lashes curled all day! It doesn’t smudge onto my cream makeup and I don’t get crumbled maskcara all over my face throughout the day. I’m obsessed with the volume and length they gave without looking to chunky or unnatural. I don’t know if I’ll ever use another mascara again.

4. Physician’s Formula CC Cream

This is the CC Cream I used before I started using mascara and while the tones don’t always match the current color of my skin, I still love it for a minimal makeup day! It has 30 SPF so I can just apply to my face, add a pop of blush and mascara and I’m good to go! I use it mostly for days I’ll be swimming or out in the sun for a long period of time. On a day to day basis I still use my IIID Foundation, but this is something I truly love having in my arsenal.

5. Maskcara Beauty Stay Setting Spray

I was SO skeptical of setting sprays before I tried the Stay Spray by Maskcara Beauty. It’s so refreshing and smells like coconuts, but most importantly it really does help my makeup last all day long! I love the way it helps the makeup set into my skin and keeps that dewy glow that I live for! Definitely can’t live without it now.

6. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Okay, this isn’t necessarily makeup but it’s been the BIGGEST game changer for my lips! I used to hate wearing lip color because everything would crack and collect on my chronically dry lips. Thanks to this beautiful product, my lips have never been more soft, smooth and lucious! I am OBSESSED.

7. Maybelline Matte Ink

I was not a fan when I bought my first color, but after trying several others it really is the best longwear matte lipstick you can get for the price! It really does wear all day! It doesn’t burn or tingle and glides on really smooth. I think the deeper colors are my favorite so far.

8. Maskcara Beauty Makeup Brushes

Once again, I’d never really used high quality makeup brushes to apply my makeup until I started using Maskcara and ever since then I’ve been hooked. They are the highest quality, softest, most beautiful brushes I’ve ever used. It makes me cringe a little that I used to use my hands and those cheap tiny brushes that come with your drugstore makeup. No wonder I was never happy about my makeup routine! Quality really does make a difference, and these brushes are going to last me a lifetime!

9. Wet n Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer

This is a fairly new adventure, but I finally did some research on how to make my eyeshadow stay on all day and I found raving reviews on this one by wet n wild. It’s only $5 and so I had to give it a try. It’s been amazing! I can’t believe how big of a difference it really makes to have an eyeshadow primer!! If you’re looking for one, definitely give this one a try.

10. Maskcara Beauty eyeshadows

Of course I had to couple the primer with the Maskcara eyeshadows. Can you tell I’m a totally Maskcara brand junkie? Hahaha! These eyeshadows are so creamy, buildable, and each tin has SO MUCH PRODUCT! I love mixing and matching all of the colors we have available, and the great news is we’re getting a LOT of new ones super soon! Quality eyeshadows can really take a makeup look to the next level and I’m so excited to get my hands on all the new ones!

That’s a wrap, folks!! What are your tried and true makeup faves? Leave them in the comments and I’d love to try them! I hope you have an amazing weekend!

Out With the Old + in With the New

Okay, I have always wanted to do a comparison of my old makeup routine to my new one and I finally gave it a shot! The results were even better than I had expected and I found myself falling in love with Maskcara all over again! I mean, just check out this before and after...

OLD VS NEW PIN.png

Now, the difference isn't super drastic because I was highlighting and contouring already with my old routine, BUT it took a lot of different products and lots of powders.

In the photo on the right are the products I use every single day. It's all in one compact so I don't need to dig through my makeup bag anymore. Not to mention it's so pretty to look at!!! *all the heart eyes emoji* My brushes are high quality, I don't lose any bristles on my face while applying. They're all double sided and double functional. Everything in this photo is a professional, high quality product that has been thoughtfully designed by an experienced makeup artist. It hydrates my skin, doesn't make me break out, blends effortlessly and looks natural on my skin! Plus, my setting spray has 30 SPF which was a step my previous routine was missing. My husband couldn't believe the difference when I made the switch! I have a natural, dewy glow at all times, and I wouldn't want it any other way! This definitely affirmed my love for these products and I don't ever plan on going back to my old routine!!

The picture to the left is all the products I used to use before I started using Maskcara, along with a collection of super cheap makeup brushes I had already thrown in the trash. Haha! Here's the thing. These products are all drugstore, cheap products. For the most part they were working for me, but I didn't realize how terrible these foundations and powders were for my dry skin. The  foundation was too orange for my skin and the products were near impossible to blend once they were applied to my face. It made my skin look dull instead of bright and awake. My face immediately felt tight after I finished applying everything. These products were the cheapest things on the market, and the way it wore throughout the day made that obvious. I just wish I would have switched over completely years and years ago.

What Joining an MLM Has Taught Me
MaskcaraCheree_76.jpg

I know I talk about this a lot, but I wanted to let you know more in depth some of the things I've learned since becoming an Independent Maskcara Artist. You already know how much I have LOVED this change, so I have narrowed it down to five main lessons I have learned and I'm going to expound on those. I am so excited to share them with you!!! Let's get on with it, shall we?!

If you're not moving forward, you're drifting away

For the last 4 years, before joining Maskcara, I was a stay at home mom. It was a huge priority for us to have me here to care for our children. When I finished my associates degree, Turner was 4 months old. I was done with college and knew I wanted to spend my time exclusively raising him. What I didn't realize at the time was how much of an impact it would have on my personal development.

Being a mother has helped me grow in SO MANY WAYS. But, at the same time, the isolation and lack of continued personal education has stunted my personal growth. I stopped doing things that challenged me. I lost sight of my passions, goals and dreams. I was doing the daily routine, but I wasn't doing much to improve myself. After having our second child, it really started to wear on my soul and I knew that I needed to make a change to maintain a personal identity. It's almost like I could feel my personality slipping away! Dramatic much? Haha maybe...

Then something happened. Matthew became self employed as a Real Estate Agent in February. As we worked together to expand our thinking I felt a small fire ignite inside of me. We started reading inspiring business books and talking about our aspirations! We talked about all of the sacrifices we can make to get us where we want to be. I started feeling the passions within me bubbling to the surface. That's when I was on Instagram one day and saw someone I followed was a Maskcara artist. I found out she lived down the street from me and then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I brought it up to Matthew, he encouraged me and I joined a couple weeks later when enrollments opened up again!

Ever since that day I have felt myself learning and growing as an individual, striving to reach personal goals and obtain new skills!! It's made me realize how important it is to keep moving forward. Because if you're not, one day you will find you've drifted away.

No one is the exception to hard work

I went into this knowing I would have to work harder than I ever have before. I've never been good at keeping a consistent schedule. I am VERY EASILY distracted. Even starting the blog, an Etsy shop and other small side gigs had fizzled away over time. My motivations were never strong enough to drive me. Oh, that's another thing! I am a very content and comfortable person, so my natural drive is on the low side as well. I tend to procrastinate until the last minute and the stress/anxiety of that habit can cause debilitating effects. Basically, after 4 years of just earning a little money here and there for "fun" I knew this was going to be a big change in lifestyle.

I had so many doubts in myself, but deep down I knew that this was a company I could stand behind forever. I knew I would try my very best to succeed. At the very beginning I would watch other artists who had been running their business since January and get overwhelmed immediately. I thought, wow...they are such a success! How could I ever get there? When they have such a huge team or a huge following, how could I ever succeed? I watched them to learn from them, but instead I started to compare myself to them.

That's when my husband had me tell him how the Top Leader of the company and I were different. I started to say things like, she has a community of woman that she can influence, she is older than I am and has more experience. He stopped me and said, "You're wrong." I was stunned! He continued, "The only difference between you and her, is your skills. She has gained skills that have helped her get where she is now. You can gain those exact same skills and be exactly where she is right now. Nothing can stop you from doing exactly what she has done."

That was the biggest truth bomb to me in that moment. She had done all of the hard work with her business before Maskcara. She had worked her buns off to gain the skills to improve her life. That's what makes her a top leader. NO ONE is the exception to that hard work. Maybe some of us have to work harder than others because of life circumstances, but we can ALL get where we want to be if we work hard enough!

Consistency REALLY IS the key

This one right here. This lesson has kicked my trash time and time again. My old habits and, dare I say, laziness have been hard to break. For YEARS I let my schedule control me instead of the other way around. That's why consistency has been SO HARD. In August I attended the Maskcara Launch Party in Vegas and it was after that I set a goal to be extremely consistent in my schedule.

Now, if you have any children at all, you KNOW that can be near impossible. But I tried not to let that stop me from being as consistent as possible. I had good days and bad days, but overall I noticed how well that consistency paid off. At the end of August I had my best month yet! The problem with that was I got complacent with that success and I stopped being as consistent. Boy, did that hurt me. It can be a vicious cycle if you let it. Right now I'm in a complacent phase because I've had a really good month, but I'm still not where I want to be.

The best way to push through complacency is to think big. To dream your biggest dreams. Go test drive your dream car, look at some million dollar homes, or plan a dream vacation for your family!! Then get back on that consistent schedule and KILL IT!!

You have unique value

I am not just going to say you are special here, even though you are! This is about your unique values and how they help you in your business. People tend to buy from people who share certain values. Not just religion necessarily, but personal values. For example, some may resonate with people who have strong family values. Others may value travel and so on. I took a branding course by Michelle Gifford, and learned so much about using my personal values to help me in my business.

It may at times seem like one person in an MLM will gravitate all the customers, but it's not true! Your tribe will gravitate to you because of your unique personal values! So the best thing you can do for your business is to simply be you! Share the things you love, don't love, make you laugh, and people will love it!! You never know who needs to hear it come from you!

Helping others helps you

This may seem a little obvious to some, but it's something I keep learning over and over again through this journey. At first I just wanted to share my excitement about this product and message with everyone I knew, but then it started to change into helping. I want to help others feel their own beauty and individual worth. I want to help someone who may need this opportunity in their life like I did.

When you go forward with the intention of helping instead of the mindset of "getting" something in return, your clients can sense the difference. And it makes YOU feel good, too!! Every makeover and connection I make with another woman leaves me feeling better than I was before. Even within the sisterhood of artists themselves I have made so many friends and lifelong connections! There are so many amazing and beautiful women who have so much good to offer this world. Getting to be surrounded by them? That has been the biggest blessing of all!

"No Makeup" Makeup with Maskcara Beauty

Lately I have been feeling overwhelmed with my schedule, or lack thereof. One of the things that picks me up every time is how quickly I can feel more ready with Maskcara makeup to take on whatever comes my way! During a Maskcara training webinar, Cara shared an analogy about hitting a WALL in your life and how you naturally want to wait for someone else to come give you a boost/help you over. She went on to say that we all need to be the HERO in our own lives. When you wait for some to solve your problems, or wait for a certain thing to happen to make it easier, your really just wasting time you could be climbing and overcoming. It really touched me and it was exactly what I needed to hear right now.

I may not always remember everything, or be organized, or good at managing my time, etc; But I am learning from my mistakes and scaling walls without really realizing it. I CAN DO HARD THINGS. And so can YOU!!! Whether your momming, working, creating, struggling or all of the above. Please remember that you can overcome it. Even if it means asking for help. You can be your own Hero!!!

Now I'm going to put some makeup on and conquer the rest of the hours of this day! I hope you enjoy this tutorial! I'm reallllyyyyy trying to post more regularly on here, because it is so therapeutic and fun for me. Let me know what other blog posts you want to see from me and I'll start planning it!

Love you all so much!!
