Merry & Bright          //          Simple Snowman           //           Fireplace JOY          //          Nativity

All of Matthew's presents have come in the mail, except one! The rest are wrapped and ready to go! Now I'm just anxious to give them. I love the spirit of giving at Christmas time. We have some service activities planned for people we love and those who are less fortunate. It warms my heart so much to know we're helping others feel joy and love this time of year. I'm so grateful for all I have and that I'm able to give. I hope your holidays have been filled with joy and love so far! Do you have special giving traditions? I'd love to here about them! Lots of love!

When we found out I was pregnant with a little boy, Matthew set this quote as his iPhone wallpaper. I have always admired his self awareness. He is constantly setting goals to challenge and better himself. I never imagined he could be a better man than when I married him because I've always held him in the highest regard. He is continually growing into a better person and I am starting to wonder if I can keep up with him!

My husband is one of the most hardworking people I know. He would go to the moon and back for us if he knew it would give us a brighter future. He is imperfect and makes mistakes, but is quick to correct them. That's what makes him perfect for me, because I'm imperfect too. Together we are striving to be the best versions of ourselves, and teach our children to do the same. Our strengths are complimentary. It's been so great to see him have an expanding role in Turner's childhood. The more independent Turner becomes, the more I find myself losing my patience, while Matthew's patience only continues to grow. He would probably disagree with that observation, but it's true! I am so grateful that Turner has his example to look up to.

I also believe that part of the reason Matthew is so amazing is because he has a wonderful father to look up to. By example his father raised a man who is hardworking, faithful, logical, sensitive, humorous, thoughtful, generous, and loving. Glen is all of those things, and I see those qualities in Matthew because of him. Not to mention, he is the sweetest Papa to Turner and I have loved watching that relationship grow! I couldn't thank him enough for loving Matthew, Turner, and I. I truly feel loved and blessed to have his example in our lives.

I couldn't do this tribute without talking about my own dad. Growing up I was kind of a daddy's girl. I would race to the door when he got home and climb on his lap when he would sit at the table. He has taught me a lot through his example alone. I have learned and gained a testimony of the gospel through his faithfulness in family home evenings and family prayer. He has helped me to discern answers to my prayers and inspiration from the Holy Ghost. I gained a love for music and dancing when I would wake up on Saturday mornings to him jamming out to Motown hits while making pancakes and eggs. He would often take me aside and give me inspired guidance that always ended with a warm embrace and the phrase "I love you." I knew I was precious to him and I know I still am. I will always be grateful for the things he has taught me, and even more grateful for the way he has shown me to live a full and happy life.

So if you're a father, think about that someone who may be watching and following your example. Remember that you make a difference in the lives of those around you. What you do MATTERS. Keep up the good work, guys! And have a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Mother's Day Tribute

I wanted to make a tribute to all of the mom's out there. The new mother, grandmother, or simply a mother at heart. Often I feel my efforts as a young mother go unnoticed, and I know I am not alone. For that reason, I want to tell you that your efforts are worth more than you may ever realize.  I always had a grasp for the love mother's have for their children, but I never understood the worry and sorrow they feel until I became one myself.

Becoming a mother has allowed me to feel deeper than ever before. Creating and caring for a human being has given me a greater perspective. It has helped me gain an understanding of my Father in Heaven and how His heart aches for His children. I've caught a small glimpse of how He felt when He watched his Son, Jesus Christ, suffer for the sins of the world. It has shown me the worst of me and the best of me.

Motherhood has taught me more about love, sacrifice, patience, and selflessness than I ever could have imagined. I have become a better person. Not to mention, the joy I feel watching Turner learn and grow is unlike anything I have ever felt before. Seeing his sweet personality develop brings so many laughs and smiles into my daily life. He makes the little things extra special, and helps me step back from the hustle and bustle to focus on what is most important.

I'm so grateful for the example of a loving and righteous mother. She has never stopped caring for me. Even as an adult, she has helped me through so much. What means the most to me is that she is my best friend. She's always there when I need someone to talk to. I can't even tell you how many times I have called her to see if I can come over just for a change of scenery. She is an incredible grandma and treats Turner like the first grandchild even though he's number nine. I have never questioned if she loves me. I have always known.

I've also been blessed with an angel for a mother in law. She never ceases to amaze me with her endless generosity. Not many can say this, but I feel completely comfortable to ask her for help. She raised a super stud son for me to marry, and for that I am eternally grateful. I couldn't have lucked out more. I love her like she is my own mother.

I know every mother struggles with something. I just want you to know you are loved. I love you for your valiant efforts. You are kind, beautiful and smart. You are amazing! I know God made mothers because he couldn't be everywhere. So lift your head up and journey on. Put on a smile and remember that the seemingly insignificant things you do every day are important. Your influence is powerful and a great gift. Let's keep encouraging each other to be our very best.

I hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day!

All my love,
