Top 10 Makeup Favorites

Surprisingly, I’ve NEVER done a makeup favorites roundup! I’ve had quite a few of you asking for all my go to makeup products, and here it is! For me makeup needs to be effortless and look likewise. Over the past year I’ve been REALLY HAPPY with my makeup routine! It’s simple, convenient, and makes me feel like my best self! Here are the top 10 products I now can’t live without!

1. Maskcara Beauty IIID Foundation

I’ve been using this makeup for 3 years now, and I’m more obsessed with it than ever! It’s one of the reasons I signed up to be an artist, but let me tell you WHY I love it so much. From the first time I saw Cara, the creator, doing before and afters of this product I knew it was something I had to try. It just brought out this natural beauty and light in everyone she put it on!!

I convinced my husband to buy it for me the Christmas of 2015. I had been sick for months with the pregnancy of our second son to the point where I had lost myself. To finally feel okay enough to put makeup on and take that time for myself sparked a renewed sense of energy and confidence in me. It was exactly what I needed! To feel beautiful in my own skin. It actually inspired me to start blogging again, and I did this review on her product. The product and my skills have come a LONG way since then, but you can still see the confidence it gave me!!!

Now I get to share that same feeling with other women. I get to watch them light up as they see themselves shining through in that after photo. They realize their own beauty! Because it just enhances your natural features, it’s like you know you’re even more beautiful when you take it off. It’s fast, easy and convenient for everyday use - for a stay at home mom like me and so many other women who live full and bold lives! I’ve never loved my makeup routine more than I do right now!! (View my old routine vs new routine here) If you’re looking to change your foundation, you can learn your color match here and get your own customized palette!

2. e.l.f. Brow Pencil

This pencil is the perfect color (Neutral Brown) and makes brows a cinch! I don’t have to dip into a product over and over again, I just twist up and flick on those brows until I’ve achieved the look I want! For $2 per pencil, it really can’t be beat. I am in the market for a brow pen, but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t dry out quickly.

3. Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

This is the ONLY mascara that has kept my lashes curled all day! It doesn’t smudge onto my cream makeup and I don’t get crumbled maskcara all over my face throughout the day. I’m obsessed with the volume and length they gave without looking to chunky or unnatural. I don’t know if I’ll ever use another mascara again.

4. Physician’s Formula CC Cream

This is the CC Cream I used before I started using mascara and while the tones don’t always match the current color of my skin, I still love it for a minimal makeup day! It has 30 SPF so I can just apply to my face, add a pop of blush and mascara and I’m good to go! I use it mostly for days I’ll be swimming or out in the sun for a long period of time. On a day to day basis I still use my IIID Foundation, but this is something I truly love having in my arsenal.

5. Maskcara Beauty Stay Setting Spray

I was SO skeptical of setting sprays before I tried the Stay Spray by Maskcara Beauty. It’s so refreshing and smells like coconuts, but most importantly it really does help my makeup last all day long! I love the way it helps the makeup set into my skin and keeps that dewy glow that I live for! Definitely can’t live without it now.

6. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Okay, this isn’t necessarily makeup but it’s been the BIGGEST game changer for my lips! I used to hate wearing lip color because everything would crack and collect on my chronically dry lips. Thanks to this beautiful product, my lips have never been more soft, smooth and lucious! I am OBSESSED.

7. Maybelline Matte Ink

I was not a fan when I bought my first color, but after trying several others it really is the best longwear matte lipstick you can get for the price! It really does wear all day! It doesn’t burn or tingle and glides on really smooth. I think the deeper colors are my favorite so far.

8. Maskcara Beauty Makeup Brushes

Once again, I’d never really used high quality makeup brushes to apply my makeup until I started using Maskcara and ever since then I’ve been hooked. They are the highest quality, softest, most beautiful brushes I’ve ever used. It makes me cringe a little that I used to use my hands and those cheap tiny brushes that come with your drugstore makeup. No wonder I was never happy about my makeup routine! Quality really does make a difference, and these brushes are going to last me a lifetime!

9. Wet n Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer

This is a fairly new adventure, but I finally did some research on how to make my eyeshadow stay on all day and I found raving reviews on this one by wet n wild. It’s only $5 and so I had to give it a try. It’s been amazing! I can’t believe how big of a difference it really makes to have an eyeshadow primer!! If you’re looking for one, definitely give this one a try.

10. Maskcara Beauty eyeshadows

Of course I had to couple the primer with the Maskcara eyeshadows. Can you tell I’m a totally Maskcara brand junkie? Hahaha! These eyeshadows are so creamy, buildable, and each tin has SO MUCH PRODUCT! I love mixing and matching all of the colors we have available, and the great news is we’re getting a LOT of new ones super soon! Quality eyeshadows can really take a makeup look to the next level and I’m so excited to get my hands on all the new ones!

That’s a wrap, folks!! What are your tried and true makeup faves? Leave them in the comments and I’d love to try them! I hope you have an amazing weekend!

How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe | Fall 2018
How to create a fall Capsule wardrobe.png

The weather is slowly transitioning to fall and it's my favorite time of the year for fashion! Transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall fabulous is easy with just a few key pieces! I've got the deets on how to make what's in your closet work for you, so keep reading! For reference I'll be listing an outline of my capsule wardrobe to help you get an idea of how to create your own! Most of the items I have, but some are similar items because what I purchased two seasons ago is no longer available but still going strong!! *hands to face, shocked white eyes emoji* That's just the beauty of simplifying your wardrobe, ladies. And it doesn't have to cost a fortune either! All images will be linked so you know where to find each item! All items are under $50! Ready??? Let's start with covering your butt. ;)

BOTTOMS

First, you'll want to hang onto your favorite denim shorts and ankle cropped jeans. Seriously!!! They are the perfect bottoms for fall! You can pair shorts with a tee and long cardigan/kimono, or put a sweater on top to balance it out! The key is to get creative with how you layer your tops with your bottoms. Keep scrolling to see what I mean!

  • 2 pairs of bermuda shorts

  • 2 pairs of denim crops

  • 1 pair of distressed black skinny jeans

TOPS:

Below are some examples of tops to keep in your fall capsule wardrobe. Take notice, they are ALL short sleeve. This will make it so you don't get too hot during the day, but you can use your layering piece of choice to help warm you/change things up when things cool down a little. Pick some tops that are more lightweight and basic, and some that are a little more warm and patterned. Find fall colored stripes or a classic plaid top to give all those fall vibes!

  • 1 graphic tee

  • 1 button up blouse

  • 2 basic tees in neutral colors (I count the black/white mock neck top as a basic neutral)

  • 2 fall toned/patterned tops

SWEATERS:

These are the layering pieces I was referring to earlier. Using these will add interest and warmth to your basics! Add this kimono over a pair of shorts, graphic tee and booties for a boho vibe. Throw the midi cardigan over a mock neck top and high waisted distressed jean with a pair of mules for a modern edgy look. You can layer a neutral sweater over a collared button up with some cropped cuffed jeans and white tennis shoes for a preppy look! I'm telling you, the possibilities are endless for mixing and matching with these simple layering pieces!

  • 1 crochet/lace kimono

  • 1 neutral crew sweater

  • 1 long sweater cardigan

DRESSES + JUMPSUITS

These pieces are so much fun to dress up or down. That's something that's so great about having simple base pieces. You can always layer them and style them in so many different ways! Pair the jumpsuit with a graphic tee and some tennis shoes or put it with a collared top, statement earrings and some mules for a more dressy look. Go sporty with your dresses by pairing them with a sweater and tennis shoes or throw on your kimono and booties. You can't go wrong, I'm telling you.

  • 1 jumpsuit

  • 2 simple dresses

SHOES + ACCESSORIES

I mean, did I say enough about mixing and matching basics yet? Haha these are definitely my most worn shoes styles in my closet right now. Although, I have faux leather strap slides that I've been wearing, not mules. Mules are definitely on my list to purchase for fall and these ones are so cute/affordable! Grab a few trendy accessories like these bandana scarfs and some tassel earrings to take any look to the next level! I also have a couple baseball caps and chokers that I like to switch it up with as well. Accessories and layers are where all the fun is for fall!

  • 1 pair black booties

  • 1 pair faux leather mules/slides

  • 1 pair white tennis shoes

  • 2 bandanas for around neck/hair

  • 1+ pairs of fun fall toned earrings

  • 2 baseball caps

  • 1 choker necklace

There you go! 25 pieces total and I'm ready for fall!! Once you have the basic essential pieces for your style, you'll find yourself being more satisfied with your closet from season to season. Then all you need to add are a few layering or accessory pieces to freshen up your look! Which is overall way cheaper in the long run! Do you think you could survive the season with only 25 pieces?

Simplifying my wardrobe is one of the best things I've ever done for myself! I feel like I have way more pieces I LOVE and less pieces that I just bought because they were on sale and wanted more clothes but never wear because they don't go with anything. Ha! I have become so much more intentional about each piece and only buy something if I love it, feel comfortable in it and know I'll wear it multiple times. It's been so good for my confidence and my budget!

If you have any questions about creating your own capsule wardrobe, I'm happy to answer them! Just leave them in the comments below or send me a DM on instagram @adashofsalter!

Fall Favorites | From Roolee

Okay. Roolee just released their new Fall arrivals and I am SWOONING over allll the thingssss. I narrowed it down to 15 of my favorites. Each photo is linked so click it to see details and browse for more. You won't want to stop. TRUST ME. Now I want to talk about my favorite trends that are happening in fashion this fall.

1. EMBROIDERY

It's sticking around for Fall and I LOVE the warmth and character it adds to a dress or jacket! It also adds the most perfect feminine touch. So if you thought you had to stop wearing those embroidered beauties once summer was over, THINK AGAIN. Please, just keep wearing them!

2. VELVET

Fall is for soft clothing. Really though. Nothing says Fall like the coziest softest long sleeve shirt you've worn in your life. If you're afraid it will feel like the velvet of your childhood, I understand what you're feeling. It's nothing like that now!!! Just jump on that new and improved velvet train. Velvet + soft knits are definitely a must this year.

3. BELL SLEEVES

Another blast from the past, bell sleeves are back and better than ever!! I love the flowy, feminine feel that a bell sleeve gives to an outfit. Your family and friends may say that you look like you're from the 70's. Don't fight it, rock it!! I promise you'll love the era change!

4. DISTRESSED DENIM

That distressed denim is good for the soul!!!! I don't know what it is about those exposed knees, but I can't get over how ironically chic I feel in a pair of frayed, distressed skinnies! Roolee has so many amazing options in this department. I link one, but you're gonna need to see them all.

5. BOOTIES

These have been a Fall necessity of mine for years, but the styles just keep getting better! I love being able to through on some booties and hit the road feeling dressed up but casual. It's my favorite combo!! These lace up ones are ALL the heart eyes, and the Free People ones are equally so! Why can't I have enough money for all the colors + styles???? #firstworldproblems

That about sums it up though, folks. Thank you so much for reading + supporting me. It means so much!! What style trends are you digging this fall?? Leave a comment below, I'd love to check them out!!

There are few things I love more than the clearance section when seasons are transitioning. As you know by now, I am affiliated with Roolee Boutique and their winter clearance is AMAZING right now. If I could theme this selection it would be moody and comfortable. Obsessing over ALL the mock neck and turtle neck tops. That chunky ivory sweater in the top left. Are you kidding me right now? Go grab yourself something special while you still have the chance. Happy shopping loves!

Friday Favorites!

This last month I started using some game changing products, and the list of favorites was getting so long I felt the need to share it with all of you! All of the product images below are linked to where you can purchase them. So let's jump right into it, shall we?

Mē Smooth Hair Reduction Device

I have wanted to get laser hair removal for a while now. Well, did you know you could do it yourself at home? Matthew got me this device for Christmas, you may have heard me talking about it on my Insta story, and I was SUPER skeptical that it could actually get the job done. I started on/am currently treating my underarms and bikini area. I'm over half way done with the treatments and I can totally notice a difference! Especially on my bikini area. TMI, but I have thick hair and I was getting so many painful ingrown hairs it was ridiculous. This is CHANGING MY LIFE. I can't wait to give a full review after I'm done with all of the treatments. If you want to laser the private parts of your body for a fraction of the cost. This is the way to do it.

Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant

I have good friends who recommend the best products and this one as well as the next one were recommended by my BFF, Kelsie. You guys, the ingrown/thick hair problem also applies to my underarms which I feel like makes them very easily irritated. Off and on since I can remember I've had reactions to deodorant. I never really switched brands because it only happened every once in a while. Well, after having rashes for a little over a month I stopped using my deodorant and switched to my husbands. That's when Kelsie recommend this dry spray deodorant. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and I'm OBSESSED. It feels like I'm spraying air on my pits because this stuff drys instantly. It smells great and lasts up to 48 hours! Go get some for yourself. Right now.

Soap Brows

Kelsie also opened my eyes to the magic that is Soap Brows. I mean, just look at her brows first. Then, go watch this video to see it in action! Isn't that incredible??? I have sparseness just like her and it does wonders for me! I've been using a pink soap, and so I can only imagine what it's going to look like when I get some clear soap

Little Remedies Saline Drops

If you have been following my Instagram saga, then you already know we've been hit with a constant wave of illness in our home. Specifically sinuses and colds. These drops have done wonders for clearing out that stubborn mucus in  my little ones nostrils. They hate getting the drops, but it has made the biggest difference in getting them back to their healthy, happy selves!

Lemi-Shine

Okay, so a couple months ago our dishes started looking a little foggy. I looked up a DIY rinse aid on Pinterest and thought I would give it a try. Well, something went horribly wrong and for a whole month we had this nasty white film on everything. Even the dishwasher. I felt awful and tried everything I could to flush the system. It was looking better but still had a foggy look to it. That's when I saw this product on my friend Kalie's favorites list on Instagram, and I HAD to give it a try. After the first wash, the dishwasher looked brand new!!! I couldn't believe it! Our dishes have never looked this clean. EVER. Matthew is obsessed with how clean our glassware is. SO worth the investment for us.

Moana Soundtrack

I know, totally cliche, but I don't even care. Turner and I are OBSESSED with this movie and all of it's music. The soundtrack has been on repeat every time we get in the car, or if there's a lull in our day. It's the perfect pick me up! You're welcome. ;)

That's it for today! If you try them out, let me know what you think! What products are your tried and true favorites right now? Leave a comment with them below! Thanks for reading, loves!
