Awkward + Awesome
Awkward + Awesome || A Dash of Salter

I've been having some major writers block lately, and so I decided to try to post something new! I was browsing post ideas on Pinterest and came across the idea to tell the awkward and awesome things that have happened to you over the last week. So let's start with everyone's favorite part, all things AWKWARD and EMBARRASSING.

AWKWARD:

  • When Matthew introduced me to a new couple at church. I was walking a couple feet behind and didn't know what to say, so I didn't say anything. I swear, sometimes I'm the most socially awkward person in the world. Total palm to forehead moment.

  • On Tuesday my neighbor rang our doorbell, and I had to answer it while still in my sweats, no makeup on and some rad bed head. It was 12:30 pm.

  • Forgetting and realizing over and over again that my washer is broken. It won't drain or anything and I realized on Wednesday that I never took the soaked towels out of it. It had been a week. So I had to go to my parents house with a super heavy basket of wet, smelly towels. Those loads should last us until the weekend, hopefully.

  • That awkward moment that you're doing a hair tutorial video and you keep dropping things on the ground. Haha! Then, to top it all off, when you try to download it onto the computer it says the file format is incorrect and so it won't download. At least the other one I made was successful! (Hair tutorial from the style in this post coming next week!)

AWESOME:

  • I rode an ELEPHANT at the Davis County Fair! I rode in the front and its ears kept rubbing against my legs. It tickled so bad! I had a perma-grin the rest of the night!! Dreams do come true guys. Picture evidence at the bottom of this post.
  • I cleaned the entire house before nap time a couple times this week. That's a pretty big deal, trust me.

  • Matthew got a new job with an awesome company. The stress level should decrease, benefits will increase, environment will be improved, and he'll be gaining lots of experience for positions in the future. Not to mention, there is a lot of potential for growth within the company. His ambition never ceases to amaze me and I'm pretty convinced that he can do anything he sets his mind to.

  • Turner taught himself how to blow raspberries on his arm and make fart sounds. It seriously made my day. I was laughing SO HARD!

  • Turner and I watched a Disney movie every day this week. It was awesome because he loved all of them! Matthew was never really into Disney movies because for a long time they didn't own a TV. I however, lived on Disney growing up. I'm a girl so it might have been a little different, but still! I'm so glad Turner loves it as much as I do!

Summer Bucket List || UPDATE

As many of you know, I posted a Summer Bucket List with my toddler in mind. I created it to encourage us to get out more and do new things together. To be honest, I kind of forgot about it for a while. Since opening the shop, our summer schedule has been super busy. When I remembered our bucket list, I looked over it to see if we had, unknowingly, completed things on it. To my surprise, we had! So I thought I'd update you on the things we've crossed off the list!

1. SWIMMING:

We've been swimming at least 5 times this summer. Turner is a fish just like me. He can't get enough of water and slippery slides! His bravery is somewhat terrifying for me, but the happiness in his face helps me endure the constant anxiety.

2. BLOW BUBBLES:

Turner is obsessed with bubbles. OBSESSED. I mean, most kids are, but I have to hide them from him so I can maintain consciousness and the oxygen in my body. I need one of these automatic bubble blowing machines. Batteries are easier to replace than lungs.

3. SPLASH PAD:

We went to the South Ogden Splash Pad for Hazel's 2nd birthday party, and he was the only kid at the party to go in. Turner had a blast! He kept splashing in all of the puddles and giggling. I just adore him. Oh, and do you want to know the best part about this splash pad? It's free!!

4. RUN THROUGH THE SPRINKLERS:

Are you seeing a theme yet? Haha! It's too hot outside to do an activity that doesn't involve water, okay? Now that I've been reminded about all of the other activities on our list, I'm excited to take Turner on some exciting adventures.

What fun things have you done with your toddler this summer? What awesome things do you plan to do with your little one over the remainder of the summer? I'd love to hear about them!

Lots of love!
