Out With the Old + in With the New

Okay, I have always wanted to do a comparison of my old makeup routine to my new one and I finally gave it a shot! The results were even better than I had expected and I found myself falling in love with Maskcara all over again! I mean, just check out this before and after...

OLD VS NEW PIN.png

Now, the difference isn't super drastic because I was highlighting and contouring already with my old routine, BUT it took a lot of different products and lots of powders.

In the photo on the right are the products I use every single day. It's all in one compact so I don't need to dig through my makeup bag anymore. Not to mention it's so pretty to look at!!! *all the heart eyes emoji* My brushes are high quality, I don't lose any bristles on my face while applying. They're all double sided and double functional. Everything in this photo is a professional, high quality product that has been thoughtfully designed by an experienced makeup artist. It hydrates my skin, doesn't make me break out, blends effortlessly and looks natural on my skin! Plus, my setting spray has 30 SPF which was a step my previous routine was missing. My husband couldn't believe the difference when I made the switch! I have a natural, dewy glow at all times, and I wouldn't want it any other way! This definitely affirmed my love for these products and I don't ever plan on going back to my old routine!!

The picture to the left is all the products I used to use before I started using Maskcara, along with a collection of super cheap makeup brushes I had already thrown in the trash. Haha! Here's the thing. These products are all drugstore, cheap products. For the most part they were working for me, but I didn't realize how terrible these foundations and powders were for my dry skin. The  foundation was too orange for my skin and the products were near impossible to blend once they were applied to my face. It made my skin look dull instead of bright and awake. My face immediately felt tight after I finished applying everything. These products were the cheapest things on the market, and the way it wore throughout the day made that obvious. I just wish I would have switched over completely years and years ago.

I mean, just look at the side by side!! This makeup was a total game changer in my mom routine.

"No Makeup" Makeup with Maskcara Beauty

Lately I have been feeling overwhelmed with my schedule, or lack thereof. One of the things that picks me up every time is how quickly I can feel more ready with Maskcara makeup to take on whatever comes my way! During a Maskcara training webinar, Cara shared an analogy about hitting a WALL in your life and how you naturally want to wait for someone else to come give you a boost/help you over. She went on to say that we all need to be the HERO in our own lives. When you wait for some to solve your problems, or wait for a certain thing to happen to make it easier, your really just wasting time you could be climbing and overcoming. It really touched me and it was exactly what I needed to hear right now.

I may not always remember everything, or be organized, or good at managing my time, etc; But I am learning from my mistakes and scaling walls without really realizing it. I CAN DO HARD THINGS. And so can YOU!!! Whether your momming, working, creating, struggling or all of the above. Please remember that you can overcome it. Even if it means asking for help. You can be your own Hero!!!

Now I'm going to put some makeup on and conquer the rest of the hours of this day! I hope you enjoy this tutorial! I'm reallllyyyyy trying to post more regularly on here, because it is so therapeutic and fun for me. Let me know what other blog posts you want to see from me and I'll start planning it!

Love you all so much!!

My Five Minute Makeup Routine!

Hi, lovlies! It's been a almost two months since I posted anything because this Maskcara journey has taken my life by storm, in the best way possible! But I'll save that for another post. I decided to take on the Swiftest Makeup Challenge and finish my whole face before the end of one Taylor Swift song!! Watch the video below to find out how I did or scroll down to read the spoiler! 😉

I can't believe I cut it this close actually. I'm still in shock that I can do my makeup in under 5 minutes!!! 🙌 I finished my IIID Foundation during the song, which is 4 minutes long, and then I finished with my mascara under 5 minutes! Can you do your makeup this swiftly?! I'm challenging you to try it! Just for fun! But only if you dance and make the same scary faces I made during this video. 😂 🙈 Yikes!!

I linked all the products I used below👇 but if you'd like a personal a personal color match for this foundation make sure to reach out to me! I hope you all have a fabulous week!! XO

Spinach Tomato Basil Quiche Recipe
Spinach Tomato Basil Quiche Recipe || Salter Eats || A Dash of Salter || Rich Flaky Pastry Recipe bonus

I recently discovered the magic that is quiche. It all started when I searched Pinterest for recipes involving eggs and spinach. I followed a pin to a quiche recipe assuming it was going to be way too much work to whip up. Especially since I only had an hour before my husband got home from work. #procrastinationqueen

But when I read through the instructions I couldn't believe how simple it was! I set me mind to it, and dinner was ready in no time! I didn't have all of the ingredients the recipe I found called for, so I decided to make up my very own. Risky business for a recipe you've never made before, but man, was it worth it!

PLUS, I used my mom's infamous rich and flaky pie crust recipe so I'm sharing that with you as well. You're welcome.

I was so nervous when we sat down to eat. Matthew took one bite and I knew that he absolutely loved it! Turner wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, but I didn't even care because that meant even more for me. Seriously though. Quiche makes me want to eat everything in pie form. I think pot pies might be in my future.

Anyway, scroll below for the recipe and let me know what you like in your quiche!

HOLIDAY HAIR SERIES: Finale! Topsy Tail Updo
Holiday Hair Series || Topsy Tail Updo || Episode 4 || A Dash of Salter

This is the final episode in my Holiday Hair Series. My first hair tutorial series, ever. It was so much fun to put these together. I definitely have learned a lot about shooting video and I know I still have a long way to go. I want to know what you guys think though…are the videos more helpful or should I revert back to pictorials?

Anyway, I love this Topsy Tail Updo! It looks surprisingly chic with hardly any effort. It’s what I wish every hairstyle could be. (#momlife am I right?!) It’s all I have the time and energy for these days.

Bumpdate for you guys. I’m 23 weeks now, I’ve gained 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks and i officially feel the waddle coming on. I know the discomfort has only just begun, but it’s so fun that I’m showing now. It’s obvious that I’m pregnant and not just putting on the holiday pounds.

Even though there’s been plenty of that too.

Baby Grey is kicking all the time and I can’t believe how strong he is already. I’m hoping he is just a little lighter than Turner was (8 lbs 1 oz) come birthing time, but so far he seems just as big if not bigger. I’m starting to think about how crazy it’s going to be to have two little boys in diapers, which is giving me just a little anxiety. Probably more than I actually realize.

And yet, watching Turner this holiday season has made me more excited than ever to have another precious little human around. His enthusiasm to the trees, lights, snow, nativity, music, and giving has made my heart so full this year. He is so curious and eager to learn. His daily discoveries bring so much joy into my life. I can only imagine what it will be like to watch Turner interact with his little brother and they can learn together.

Christmas is this Friday and we’re officially ready for it to arrive! Gifts are wrapped, groceries are purchased and we’re ready for a week full of cuddles, reflection, and love with our family! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas filled with joy and love! XO
