Plaid is Rad

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We had such a great time with our families. I'm grateful for the opportunity to remember the brave people who have passed and paved the way for us to live such free, blessed lives. So many have served and so many have fallen fighting for the freedoms we enjoy. I'm so grateful to live in this beautiful country and to have so many wonderful examples of patriotism and service.

I'm finally getting around to posting these stunning photos I took of Sheina before she got here hair CHOPPED. (See the before and after post of her perfect pixie haircut here!) Her plaid shirt is perfectly patriotic and complementary to her beautiful face!

I just wanted to take a moment and talk about how much I love plaid. It gives off such a feeling of warmth and comfort. Many people only associate it with fall and winter, but I think plaid is the perfect pattern to wear in the spring too! Whether black and white or with a splash of sky blue, it is the perfect look for spring! Here are some of my favorite spring plaid items below, click to find out where to buy them.

What do you think about plaid? Do you only wear it in the winter or do you sport it year round? Thanks for reading!

Here it is! The transformation you've all been waiting for! Sheina chopped her super long mermaid hair into a pixie, and the transformation is gorgeous! I'm in love with her pixie. She looks adorable and it fits her adventurous personality!

It was cut by the amazing Haley at HairMax Salon and Supply in Kaysville. It's a salon owned by the most incredibly kind family, who are close friends of mine, and I've never left there disappointed. So naturally I had to recommend it to Sheina when she wanted to cut her long locks. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend that you check them out! From talented stylists and nail technicians to beauty products and more, HairMax has you covered!!

I was so glad she let me take before and after pictures. Who doesn't love a good before and after?! I played around with her hair and showed her a few ways to style it. It can be styled so many ways!!  You can wear it simple, dried and swooped to one side with some pomade. You can wear it sleek, gelled back with mouse or pomade. If you want a more full look, round brush and blow it dry, or tease slightly at the root. You can braid or twist back the bang area for a flirty look. It looks great with or without her glasses! if you're feeling super edgy, you can try a faux hawk. I would blow dry it while pulling the hair on top in the position I wanted and then reinforce the look with pomade.

There are so many fun things you can do with a pixie! It's the perfect cut to get you through a hot summer. Talking about it makes me want to chop my hair off again, but it's currently the longest it's been in six years and I'm ready to rejoin the long hair scene!

Here are the rest of the photos I took after Sheina cut her hair, with outfit details at the bottom. Which style do you like more, long or short? Comment below to let me know!
