When we found out I was pregnant with a little boy, Matthew set this quote as his iPhone wallpaper. I have always admired his self awareness. He is constantly setting goals to challenge and better himself. I never imagined he could be a better man than when I married him because I've always held him in the highest regard. He is continually growing into a better person and I am starting to wonder if I can keep up with him!

My husband is one of the most hardworking people I know. He would go to the moon and back for us if he knew it would give us a brighter future. He is imperfect and makes mistakes, but is quick to correct them. That's what makes him perfect for me, because I'm imperfect too. Together we are striving to be the best versions of ourselves, and teach our children to do the same. Our strengths are complimentary. It's been so great to see him have an expanding role in Turner's childhood. The more independent Turner becomes, the more I find myself losing my patience, while Matthew's patience only continues to grow. He would probably disagree with that observation, but it's true! I am so grateful that Turner has his example to look up to.

I also believe that part of the reason Matthew is so amazing is because he has a wonderful father to look up to. By example his father raised a man who is hardworking, faithful, logical, sensitive, humorous, thoughtful, generous, and loving. Glen is all of those things, and I see those qualities in Matthew because of him. Not to mention, he is the sweetest Papa to Turner and I have loved watching that relationship grow! I couldn't thank him enough for loving Matthew, Turner, and I. I truly feel loved and blessed to have his example in our lives.

I couldn't do this tribute without talking about my own dad. Growing up I was kind of a daddy's girl. I would race to the door when he got home and climb on his lap when he would sit at the table. He has taught me a lot through his example alone. I have learned and gained a testimony of the gospel through his faithfulness in family home evenings and family prayer. He has helped me to discern answers to my prayers and inspiration from the Holy Ghost. I gained a love for music and dancing when I would wake up on Saturday mornings to him jamming out to Motown hits while making pancakes and eggs. He would often take me aside and give me inspired guidance that always ended with a warm embrace and the phrase "I love you." I knew I was precious to him and I know I still am. I will always be grateful for the things he has taught me, and even more grateful for the way he has shown me to live a full and happy life.

So if you're a father, think about that someone who may be watching and following your example. Remember that you make a difference in the lives of those around you. What you do MATTERS. Keep up the good work, guys! And have a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
